We're so glad you are joining our community!

Here at Consult List, our goal is to help you systematize your referral process in an efficient way, but maintain autonomy and control over how your requests are shared. In this article, we will walk you through Setting up a Profile and customizing your settings, and summarize features such as The Inter-Clinician Directory, Making Custom Referral Lists, Entering Cases, and Offering Consultations.

Please note: If you are a member who as joined as a healthcare professional (hospital social worker, doctor's office, etc.) or school professional (school counselor, case manager, etc.), we understand that you are only using the site only to seek referrals, so learning how to offer consultations and create a profile is not necessary. For the protection of your patients/students, your name will not be attached to the referral request, and instead, will state "Allied Health Provider" or "School Counselor," when noting who entered the request.

As soon as you have requested to join, you are welcome to set up your profile.

To Set up A Profile:

Please click the "account" icon on the top right of the webpage, and then click "Personal Setting and Profile."

Then, click "Edit Profile"

We suggest you go through each section, starting with your basic information, where you will share basic information about your preferred contact information. Note that we offer the ability to "snooze" your referral requests if you are not currently accepting clients, and using Consult List to primarily enter cases.

Next, Please enter your Professional Profile. Please note that we have notated which information is visible only to other professional members, and which information is available to therapy seekers when you give a consultation offer.

You'll note that there is a Client Bio and a Clinical Bio. These serve different purposes:

The Bio for Clients is what you might put on your website "about" section or a public facing online directory. It's what will show up to a client when you give a consultation offer. If you wish to upgrade your membership to Pro, you can enter up to 4 bios, so that you can customize them based on the type of consultation request. (Example: If you work with both young adults with anxiety, and parents of anxious kids, you can have two different bios that speak directly to each type of client.) This increases the chance that your profile will stand out and speak directly to the client, which in turn, increases the chance that they will choose to call you.

The Clinical Bio is only shown to other clinicians on Consult List. This allows clinicians to learn more about your training, theoretical framework, and specialties, so that they may choose you for their preferred referral lists. Some clinicians may also wish to pre-approve consultation offers before they appear on a client's report. In this case, they may review your Clinical Bio to decide whether to approve your name to be added.

Spending a moment to make sure your profile is accurate, complete, and reflects you and your practice is one of the best ways to ensure that you will match with the best clients for your niche.

Please note: Consult List respects your privacy as a clinician and does not sell or share data with third parties.

Please enter Rates information under the Rates tab

Please include the location of your practice, and all counties that clients might travel from to see you if you provide in-person therapy

Under Request Preferences and Report Preferences you can customize how your referrals are shared. If you opt to approve offers before they are added to the report, make sure you are regularly checking to see who has responded so that their names will appear on the client's consult list. Our default setting is to automatically include all offers, if this option is not selected.
